At first, it didn't seem as if James Blunt would aspire to a career as a musician. His family was part of the British Army, so Blunt also initially pursued a military career, first serving in Kosovo as a reconnaissance officer and later back home for the Queen. However, the singer developed an interest in music as a teenager, when he learned to play the guitar. During his time as a soldier, James Blunt then began to compose song lyrics. In 2002, he quit the service in favour of music. From then on, everything happened very quickly. Coincidental circumstances led James Blunt to producer Tim Rothrock and songwriter Linda Perry, who has already written lyrics for Christina Aguilera and P!NK. In 2004, the musician released his debut album "Back To Bedlam", which shot straight to No. 1 in the British charts, as did the single "You're Beautiful". James Blunt suddenly became one of the superstars, published one hit after another with songs like "Goodbye My Lover", "1973", "Stay the Night", "Bonfire Heart", "Postcards" and "Love Me Better" and played live shows in Great Britain as well as Europe. His studio albums "All the Lost Souls", "Some Kind of Trouble", "Moon Landing", "The Afterlove" and the most recently released "Once Upon A Mind" reached the Top 10 in Germany, Switzerland, Austria, the USA and the UK. James Blunt has won various awards for his outstanding musical performance, including the Echo twice and more MTV Awards. In addition to his sixth album, the single "Walk Away", a collaboration with the German DJ and producer Alle Farben, was released in 2019.
James Blunt lives in Ibiza with his wife, the aristocrat Sofia Wellesley, and their son. The musician is privately involved in various aid organisations, including environmental protection and development aid.
