He is a jazz musician, comedian, cabaret artist, actor and author in one. His 1992 single Katzeklo reached number one on the German charts and earned him an Echo Award in 1994. His double album Es gibt Reis, Baby was certified gold in 1995. In 2013, the album Sommer, Sonne, Kaktus again topped the German charts. The Bundesverband Klavier named him Pianist of the Year in 2008. He received the Art Prize of the state of North Rhine-Westphalia in 2023 and the Münchhausen-Preis in October 2024. In May 2026, the city council of Mülheim an der Ruhr voted to award him honorary citizenship. On stage, Schneider is known for extended improvisations that mix jazz, slapstick and absurdist comedy.
